Access historical documents via Library's new online archive

Library collections THREE culturally and historically significant document collections can now be viewed by the public online, after being digitised by the University Library.

These important documents are held in archives and were previously only available to scholars and researchers. Their digitisation means that they are now available for free access and download from the University Library website.

Alumni wishing to trace their family history or those with an interest in the history of Victoria will be able to use the digital repository by searching for specific keywords, eg a surname or place name.

The newly digitised collections include:

Report and transcript of evidence from the 1939 Bushfires Royal Commission
This collection contains the Royal Commission's report and transcripts of 34 days of evidence given before the Commission.

Annual reports of the Board for the Protection of Aborigines in Victoria, 1861-1925
This remarkable collection reveals intriguing details about how Aboriginal missions and reserves were established and administered.

University of Melbourne Calendars, 1858-2006
