How to Blog, Showcase and Network on the AAMH website

1. If you are not currently a member:

You will be able to view our network, showcases and blogs at any time without being a member. However if you want to offer contributions to any of these, you will need to become a "Community Member". Its not hard to join, please see below.

 




2. Becoming a member:

  • Under the heading: "Register me for Building Community", fill in your details.
  • Choose a log-in name: Your log-in name can be anything you like, as long as you willbe able to remember it! Many people choose their first name (eg. John), last name (eg. Smith)or a combination of both (eg. JSmith).Your log-in is CASE SENSITIVE.
  • Choose a password: This must be six characters long. Your password can be letters only, numbers only or a combination of numbers and letters. You must type your password TWICE (once in each box).
  • Fill in the remaining fields: First name, Last name, Email, Your Profile, Location, Organisation/ Institution, Website name and Website Address.
  • Remember to click the circle next to "Yes" to indicate you agree to the Terms of Use.
  • Press "Submit"
  • Once you have logged in, the "Edit Your Profile" page will appear (see below)

  • If you are correctly logged in, the title will say: "Edit your profile (logged in as: [your name will appear here])"
  • This page should appear each time you log in.
  • If you want to make any changes to your profile, make them on this page then press "Submit"
  • As a member, you should now be able to access the functionality available only to members (eg creating/responding to blogs, submitting and commenting on showcases, sending private messages to other members). See below for further information about using these functions.

3. Uploading a Profile Photo

 

  • At the bottom of the "Edit Your Profile" page, there is a section titled "Current Profile Photo" (see below)

  • To upload a profile photo, click the hyperlink "Upload a new profile photo"   
  • The "Upload a new profile photo" screen will appear (see below).

  • Click on the "Browse" button. Locate the photo you wish to use from your computer. Make sure the photo is either gif or jpeg format.
  • Once you have selected the photo, fill in the "Title" field. Most people use their names.
  • Then fill in the "Alt" field with a short sentence about the photo.
  • Click "Submit"

4. Logging-in when you are already a Member:

  • Fill in the "Username" and "Password" fields. If your log-in has been successful, you will be taken to the "Edit my Profile" page.
  • If you have forgotten your password, click on the hyperlink: "Reset my password"
  • You will then be taken to the "Reset Password" page
  • Fill in the "Username" field.
    Press "Submit"
  • A confirmation email will be sent to you once your email has been re-set. This can take up to 24 hours.

5. Sending a Private Message to another Community Member:

 

  • You must log-in first (see previous instructions).
  • After you have logged in, go to: http://www.aamh.edu.au/building_community/community_members
  • Click on the name of the member you would like to message.
  • On the member's individual profile page, click on the hyperlink:  "Send Private Message" icon (as per below)

  • You will be taken to a new page with a text box titled "Message" (see below)

  • Write your message in the "Message" box and then press "Submit".
  • You will then be taken to a new page that says: "Your message has been sent."

6. Creating a Blog

  • You will be taken to the "Create a New Blog Entry" page (see below)

  • Fill in the "Blog entry title" fields.
  • Click on the green icon to enlarge the "Contents box".
  • Type your blog entry.
  • When you are finished your entry, click "Submit"
  • You will be taken to a page that indicates: "Your blog entry has been created"

7. Responding to a Blog

 

  • You must log-in first (see previous instructions).
  • Under the blog entry you want to comment on, click on the hyperlink: "Comment".
  • You will be taken to the "Comment on this blog" page (shown below).

  • Write you comment in the "Comments" box.
  • Press "Submit".
  • You will be taken to a new page saying "Thank you for your comment"

8. Submitting a Showcase

 

  • Go to: http://www.aamh.edu.au/building_community/showcase
  • Click on the "Submit your own" hyperlink.
  • Email your showcase to the AAMH email address. Please limit your showcase to 500 words.
  • Once approved by the Website Administrator, your showcase will be uploaded onto the site. This may take 2-3 days.

9. Commenting on a Showcase

 

  • You must log-in first (see previous instructions).
  • Go to: http://www.aamh.edu.au/building_community/showcase
  • Select the particular showcase you would like to comment on by clicking on its title.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  • You will see a section headed: "Comment on this showcase"

  • Press "Submit"
