19 May - Alumni Conversation: Botanical Gardener Andrew Laidlaw
THE Melbourne School of Land and Environment invite alumni to join in a Melbourne Alumni Conversation.The May Conversation will feature fellow alumnus Andrew Laidlaw (DipAppSc(Hort) 1981). Mr Laidlaw is the principal landscape designer at Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens and is responsible for the design and implementation of many new projects at the Gardens.
These include the Perennial Border, the Species Rose Collection, the Ian Potter Foundation's Children's Garden and many others.
Mr Laidlaw has just completed the Guilfoyle's Volcano project which opened at the Royal Botanic Gardens last year. Andrew is also a regular presenter on ABC radio gardening talkback and co-owns landscape architectural practice Laidlaw and Laidlaw Design.
Andrew will begin the conversation by talking about the past, present and future of the Royal Botanic Gardens and look closely at how good planning can ensure an important and historic garden remains a relevant and vibrant place in the 21st century.
When: 6pm for drinks, 6.30-8pm for the Conversation, Thursday, 19 May.
Where: Café Italia, 56-66 University Street, Carlton.
Cost: $25 for alumni, $35 for non-alumni.
