Host a Student for Dinner: Welcome to Melbourne Program

Hosts Wanted Welcome to Melbourne Program LARGEALUMNI are invited to host an international AusAID student in their home for dinner and help make a difference to their Melbourne experience as part of the 2011 Semester 2 Welcome to Melbourne program.

The University of Melbourne has a large international student body, many of whom face unique challenges upon their arrival to Australia. As well as needing to understand local geography, language, cultural and social norms and adjusting to food and climate, they also need to come to terms with different expectations about their roles and responsibilities.

The Welcome to Melbourne program was established to give alumni the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of some of our international students by providing an opportunity for both parties to make a new connection.

This new friendship often helps the student to feel more comfortable in their new surroundings, improving their chances of performing well in their studies while also benefiting from everything Melbourne has to offer.

Further information and an application form can be found online or by contacting the Alumni Relations team on +61 3 8344 1746 or via email.
