TAIWANESE post-graduate students who would like to conduct science research in Australia are invited to apply for the 2009 Taiwan National Science Council Scholarships. Applications are now open for the 2009/10 period, and successful applicants will get the chance to conduct research with an Australian host organisation or institution focusing on a range of areas, including nanotechnology, biotechnology, water resource management, renewable energy and all aspects of energy efficiency and carbon emissions.

Interested applicants will need to outline their research focus and study plan as part of the application process. Scholarships will offer a research stipend of up to 600 000 NT (approx. 27 000 AUD) for a maximum study period of 12 months. Applicants must have the ability to speak and understand English in order to be considered for the scholarships. A full list of application procedures and required documentation is available on the National Science Council website (Chinese only).

Australian academics and institutions are encouraged to notify their Taiwanese contacts of the scholarship program. The AEI office in Taipei will offer support to successful applicants in liaising with suitable host institutions in Australia as required.
